Tesol
At my previous job I worked for a large distribution centre and we supplied clothes and household items to a major High Street store. It became apparent that we needed to expand, this involved opening a further local premises. We soon found a suitable premises but then we needed to employ a further two hundred staff. The staff had to be able to help set up the new warehouse and work efficiently enough to supply our customer on time as Christmas was coming up and the stores needed to stock up on all the usually Cards and Gifts. We employed an agency to deal with the recruitment and they succeeded . The staff were predominately Eastern European with limited English languages speaking skills but were very keen to learn . As a Human Resources and Section Manager I felt the need to develop a skill of teaching Tesol that is Teaching English language to speakers of other languages. Tesol inc. is the largest English teachers organization. Tesol originated in America and was designed to teach students that had come to America from other countries. It is not a qualification it is an acronyms for basically the same thing. I booked my course on the internet from www.tefltraining.co.uk my course was paid for by my employer because they saw this as very useful for the company and I enrolled on a course at a local centre. A colleague of mine decided a course like this would be very useful for her because she was offering lodgings at her house and to be able to offer to teach the English language at home to our eastern European colleagues would be so useful and it would help to build their confidence not only in the work place but for everyday situations that they will come across.
